SUMMARY:Author Visit -Book Reading/Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Join local children’s picture book author-illustrator\, Jenifer Tull-Gauger\, for a book reading and workshop. The author will read The Think\, Then Do Karate Kid: A Dojo Kun Character Book on Controlling Impulsiveness from her children’s character-building picture book series. Following the book reading\, the author will lead a workshop on dealing with bullies. In this workshop\, participants will practice keeping their cool\, and learn a variety of ways to deal with bullies. The books are geared toward children ages 5 to 10\, but all ages are welcome to join this free special event. \nRegistration is required.

DESCRIPTION:Join AP teacher Karen Maas and her STEM students from Gilbert Classical Academy\, as they share a STEM learning adventure with participants. GCA – Gilbert Classical Academy STEM HS students will be introducing a variety of STEM activities. They will be teaching 3D printing with both 3D pens and 3D printers. Beginning with CAD applications using Tinkercad\, how to export to an STL format\, how to convert to G-code and print. Also plug and play Makey Makey apps with fruit\, and an introduction to Python coding with Texas Instrument calculators and the TI-Rover. \nRegistration is required.
