DESCRIPTION:HD SOUTH welcomes local author Sande Roberts and her wonderful book “Blake’s Big Day”. Sande will read from her book and share with participants a story about Blake\, who counts himself a very lucky cat when a man named Glen decides to adopt him. Little did they both know; Glen is lucky as well. Blake interrupts Glen’s seizure\, which strengthens their bond and gains Blake national recognition. Follow Blake’s true story journey from rescue cat to hero cat\, taking him and his friend Glen all the way to New York City. Ages 5 and up. \nRegistration is required.

DESCRIPTION:Join AP teacher Karen Maas and her STEM students from Gilbert Classical Academy\, as they share a STEM learning adventure with participants. GCA – Gilbert Classical Academy STEM HS students will be introducing a variety of STEM activities. They will be teaching 3D printing with both 3D pens and 3D printers. Beginning with CAD applications using Tinkercad\, how to export to an STL format\, how to convert to G-code and print. Also plug and play Makey Makey apps with fruit\, and an introduction to Python coding with Texas Instrument calculators and the TI-Rover. \nRegistration is Required.

DESCRIPTION:Opening Reception: SPLIT: THREADS OF FRACTURE AND CONNECTION – SUSAN ALLRED\nEach of us experience moments of fracture\, division\, and separation. These “splits\,” whether they’re physical\, emotional or societal\, profoundly shape our perspective. In this fiber arts exhibition\, Susan Allred uses the traditional crafting of quilting to create sculptural forms that explore the nature of splits and the ways they can challenge and transform us. \nIn the past\, quilting was a social activity\, gathering the women in a household—or often a neighborhood—together to do handwork while they chatted and rested from other family duties. Allred believes that her modern version of this craft celebrates this historical power of social connection and the resilience of the human spirit. With quiet contemplation of our moments of division\, we can learn to navigate these experiences with greater empathy and wisdom.
