DESCRIPTION:Journey back in time to explore the incredible diversity of prehistoric life that once thrived in what is now central and northern Arizona. Join us as Dr. Jeffrey Langland\, Ph.D. uncovers the fascinating ecosystems that shaped the region’s natural history over hundreds of millions of years.  From ancient oceans teeming with marine reptiles & invertebrates to lush forests roamed by early dinosaurs and Ice Age mammals.  Participants will discover how Arizona’s unique geological features—like the Petrified Forest\, the Mogollon Rim\, and the Grand Canyon—hold clues to life from the Paleozoic\, Mesozoic\, and Cenozoic eras. Attendees will gain a deeper understanding of evolutionary biology and climate change through time. \nRegistration required.

DESCRIPTION:Join native Arizonan and retired mining engineer\, Les Presmyk as he shares his vast knowledge of Arizona mining history.  He will also share how his love affair with minerals started at the tender age of 10 when he started collecting minerals.  Les worked for 11 years at the Magma Mine in Superior and the San Manuel Mine in San Manuel\, spending the next 30 plus years with SRP working with coal mines and uranium fuel supplies for SRP’s seven generating stations\, including Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station.  He and his wife\, Paula\, have lived in Gilbert for 39 years. \nRegistration required.
