SUMMARY:Memorial Day Ceremony
DESCRIPTION:HD South—Home of the Gilbert Historical Museum\, will sponsor a morning of remembrance on Memorial Day. The event will take place on Monday\, May 25th from 8:30 a.m.-9:30 a.m. at Town Hall (50 E. Civic Center Drive). \n  \nThe event is a collaboration between HD SOUTH\, the Town of Gilbert\, the Veteran’s Advisory Board\, and American Legion Post 39. The event will include a flag and wreath ceremony\, the battlefield cross\, the POW/MIA table\, and remarks from local Gilbert dignitaries\, including Councilmember Monte Lyons. \n  \nThe guest speakers for the event include Kaz Misciewicz and Jason France. \nKaz Misciewicz has been with Bank of America since August of 2003 and currently serves as VP Senior Digital Manager.  In 2009\, Kaz applied for and developed the Military Support & Assistance Group\, Arizona Chapter.  He still supports\, represents and advises MSAG nationally and at the Arizona market level.  Prior to his career with Bank of America\, Kaz spent five years in the United States Marine Corps where he attained the rank of Sergeant\, participated in Operation Enduring Freedom and traveled to ten different countries during his service.  He is originally from South Bend\, Indiana\, where his parents and some family still reside.  Kaz enjoys traveling and spending time with his wife\, Abril and two sons\, Josh and Caleb.  He also enjoys watching and playing sports and is a “die hard” University of Notre Dame\, Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs fan. \nJason France is the founder of Suffer City\, a group training brand he launched in 2019. His approach to fitness is built on discipline\, structure\, and real-world performance. Jason began his career at 23 when he joined the United States Marine Corps. In 2006\, he was selected to attend the Athletes Performance Institute\, where he studied human performance and movement at a high level—an experience that would shape his training philosophy.  He went on to serve nearly 10 years in the Marines\, including time in the Corps’ first Special Operations unit\, now known as the Raiders. Over his military career\, Jason completed four combat deployments and became fluent in Pashto\, the \nAfghan language\, deepening his operational effectiveness overseas.  After leaving the military\, Jason transitioned into private training\, applying what he learned about performance\, resilience\, and human capability. \n  \nThe Memorial Day Ceremony event is free and open to the public. Guests are encouraged to bring their own lawn chair for seating. HD SOUTH will be open for free following the event from 9:30am until 12:00pm.  Memorial Day is also the last day to see the 21st  Annual Art of Quilting show.
