DESCRIPTION:Spend a Saturday morning at the museum conducting fun and exciting science experiments with local teacher Erik Gillman. In this class\, students will build and program a dragster powered by an Arduino microcontroller. They will learn how to connect various components to Arduino and then write a program to control the car. Supplies are provided.  Class participants will keep their completed dragster\, including the Arduino and all the components. Class size limited to a maximum of 10. Ages 12-16. \nRegistration is required. This program is funded by a generous grant from SRP—San Tan Generating Station.

Kids will learn how to combine art and technology using a laser engraver.  Whatever design you can draw (or import from the Internet)\, can be engraved into wood.  Participants will create a design on a Chromebook using EASEL software and convert the design into GCODE\, then set up the engraver to start the process.  Ages 12 and up. Da Vinci was a polymath that understood the world was not separated into various subjects\, but rather a blend of art\, science\, math\, nature\, and technology of his time. Da Vinci became one of the world’s greatest artists and inventors using the disciplines of science\, mechanics\, art\, nature\, and space. This is a fascinating presentation including invention models that are sure to inspire and reinforce STEAM. Challenge activities are available at the end of the presentation.  Ages 16 & up. \nRegistration is required.
