SUMMARY:KNIX Radio: The Buck Owens Years w/ Jim West
DESCRIPTION:KNIX Radio has been a Phoenix radio staple since the 1960’s. The station officially signed on in 1961 but was later purchased by country singer Buck Owens in 1968. Join HD SOUTH and author/historian Jim West for this in person program about the history of KNIX Country Radio and Gilbert resident\, singer\, and wife of Buck Owens\, Bonnie Campbell. Jim West’s broadcasting career started in the early 1970’s including working for the Owens family and KNIX radio. For the next 40 years\, he would broadcast radio and television programs all over the country. Jim has since gone on to become a music historian and author. Stay after the program to have a copy of his book\, “KNIX Radio: The Buck Owens Years” signed by Jim. If you don’t have a copy\, the author will have copies available for purchase. \nRegistration is required.

DESCRIPTION:Duane Roen has been tracing his roots since his teenage years\, building a database with more than 32\,000 ancestors. Duane is the founding coordinator of the Project of Writing and Recording Family History in the College of Interactive Sciences and Arts at ASU.  In this workshop he will discuss how to leave a legacy for generations through writing journals. Participants will write a journal entry (please bring paper and pen or a laptop) and will be invited to share their writing with the group.
