Dale came to Gilbert with his parents and siblings as they fled the Oklahoma Dust Bowl and the Great Depression and has called Gilbert his home ever since.  From 1971-1976 he served as the Mayor where he expanded Gilbert from a mere 240 acres to 33\,920 acres\, giving Gilbert the opportunity to grow. Come and enjoy this special opportunity to speak with the author and learn about Gilbert’s history as Dale shares excerpts from his book. \nRegistration is required.

DESCRIPTION:Join native Arizonan and retired mining engineer\, Les Presmyk as he shares his vast knowledge of Arizona mining history.  He will also share how his love affair with minerals started at the tender age of 10 when he started collecting minerals.  Les worked for 11 years at the Magma Mine in Superior and the San Manuel Mine in San Manuel\, spending the next 30 plus years with SRP working with coal mines and uranium fuel supplies for SRP’s seven generating stations\, including Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station.  He and his wife\, Paula\, have lived in Gilbert for 39 years. \nRegistration required.
