Art in the Heritage District – Murals: Stops 7 – 16
There are at least 13 murals in Downtown Gilbert and the number appears to be growing. Some of the murals depict historical scenes, other are a bit more contemporary. We will feature more details about a few of the murals and describe the locations of the ones open for viewing. For now, let’s look at some of the murals and see where they can be found. Starting in the north part of the Heritage District, we have a mural at Gilbert Road Self Storage (405 N Gilbert Rd, Gilbert, AZ 85234). This one is clearly historical in nature depicting Gilbert Road in the early years of its existence.
Just south and west of this mural along the Western Powerline Trail is the GILBERT mural depicting black ghosted lettering on red brick.
Crossing Gilbert Road to the east is Culinary Dropout’s (383 N Gilbert Rd, Gilbert, AZ 85234) mural facing Hearne Way.
Directly south of this particular mural is O.H.S.O.’s (335 N Gilbert Rd #102, Gilbert, AZ 85234) mural – the widely instagrammed and highly popular postcard depiction.
Heading back to the west across Gilbert Road is Zinburger’s (344 N Gilbert Rd, Gilbert, AZ 85234) popular and colorful mural.
Then if you head west on Vaughn and south on Ash St., you will run into one of Hale Centre Theatre – Arizona’s (50 W Page Ave, Gilbert, AZ 85233) murals.
Just around the corner, heading east again on Page there is a mural at Postino East (302 N Gilbert Rd #102, Gilbert, AZ 85234) as well. It is on the short wall facing the back lawn. Continue east across Gilbert Rd to Joe’s Real BBQ (301 N Gilbert Rd, Gilbert, AZ 85234) and head past the takeout window to the back part of Joe’s and find one of their two murals on the wall facing east. The other small mural is on the front wall of Joe’s facing Topo. It is a small southwestern landscape piece. The one below is a fun, highly instagrammable mural which puts you in the spotlight!
